Sometimes older fillings, crowns, or restorations don’t quite match the natural shade of your teeth, leaving them more noticeable than you’d like. Modern materials now allow us to create restorations that blend seamlessly with your smile, giving the appearance of an “invisible mend.”
At Gentle, we carefully assess your teeth to select the most appropriate shade, material, and technique, ensuring the final result looks natural and harmonious. Depending on your needs, we may also suggest whitening your natural teeth before placing new restorations, so everything can be matched to a brighter, more uniform shade.
In some cases, cosmetic treatments such as veneers or contouring may also be considered to create balance and symmetry across your smile. Whatever the approach, our goal is to give you results that feel comfortable, look natural, and restore your confidence when you smile.
This gentleman didn’t like the uneven front teeth or the colour of his teeth. A combination of gum contouring, a new crown, composite veneer and bleaching allowed him to feel better and enjoy smiling again.

This gentleman didn’t like the uneven front teeth or the colour of his teeth. A combination of gum contouring, a new crown, composite veneer and bleaching allowed him to feel better and enjoy smiling again. The final smile has been intentionally restored not perfectly straight. This gives the appearance of natural teeth with all the characterisation that natural teeth have.

The gum is receded, the front teeth aren’t the same size or colour, and other teeth are chipped. The yellow front tooth is a bridge that is replacing a missing tooth. Combination treatment was carried out to achieve the final smile. This included bleaching, edge bonding, a composite veneer, gum grafting to cover the roots and an all-white bridge to replace the missing tooth.

This lady didn’t like her front crowns and the dark roots on show when she smiled. A gum graft covered the roots which makes the teeth appear more even and youthful. Then new porcelain crowns were placed on 3 teeth to enhance the smile.

Here is a woman who was born with a missing front tooth and a small front tooth.

An implant and crown were placed in the gap. The front two teeth had bonding to broaden them, and the small tooth was made to look bigger with a combined treatment of gum contouring to raise up the gum and a new porcelain veneer to improve the shape of the tooth.

This lady didn’t like her small mismatching front teeth. New porcelain crowns and bonding were placed after gum contouring to improve tooth ratio harmony was carried out.

One of these teeth has an implant underneath the gum, can you guess which tooth is the implant?

Yes. Older metal or mismatched restorations can often be replaced with modern tooth-coloured materials that are carefully shade-matched to blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth.
It’s usually best to whiten first. Restorations such as fillings, crowns, and veneers do not change colour with whitening, so we recommend brightening your natural teeth first and then matching your new restorations to the lighter shade.
Modern tooth-coloured composites, porcelains, and ceramics are designed to mimic the shade, translucency, and shine of natural enamel. Your dentist will help you choose the option that offers the best balance of strength and appearance.
With good care, white fillings and porcelain restorations can last many years. Their lifespan depends on factors such as the size of the restoration, the tooth’s location, and your daily oral care routine.
In most cases, no. With careful shade-matching and modern techniques, restorations are designed to look completely natural. Many patients find that even close friends and family cannot tell which teeth have been restored.
